Portals

As an aide to collaboration and to facilitate ease of information sharing, RENCI at UNC Asheville staff develop customized Web enterprise portals for most projects on which we collaborate. An enterprise portal, also known as an enterprise information portal (EIP) or corporate portal, is a framework for integrating information, people, and processes across organizational boundaries. It provides a secure unified access point, in the form of a Web-based user interface, and is designed to aggregate and personalize information through application-specific portlets. One hallmark of enterprise portals is the de-centralized content contribution and content management, which keeps the information always updated.

The RENCI-created portals provide a central location on the Web where collaborators can log-in to a central Web site and access shared documents, graphics, audio, video, applications, calendars, and other pertinent information. Portals are operational for the following projects:

  • Cohesive Wildland Fire Strategy
  • Corridor K
  • CRAFT Climate Change Workshop
  • EFETAC Vision and Strategic Plan
  • EFETAC WWETAC Joint Portal
  • Flood Reduction Task Force
  • High Elevation Appalachian Dynamics (HEAD)
  • Integrated CIP
  • Linking Lands Land-of-Sky
  • NC ILT
  • SENRLG Portal
  • Swannanoa Flood Risk Management Project
